Canada’s Start-Up Visa (SUV) program is attracting more permanent residents, with a rise in numbers.
According to the latest data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the SUV program has witnessed a notable rise in the number of foreign nationals obtaining permanent residency in Canada this year, surpassing the figures from the previous year.
During the initial four months of 2023, the SUV welcomed 195 new permanent residents, denoting an 8.3% increase in comparison to the same period in the preceding year. If this upward trend continues, it is projected that the program could potentially admit a similar number of new permanent residents as last year, totaling approximately 575 individuals.
However, it is worth noting that the SUV experienced a decline in the number of new permanent residents arriving in April, with only 35 newcomers compared to the 50 recorded in March.
British Columbia and Ontario remain as the preferred destinations for immigrant entrepreneurs joining the SUV program this year.
